Here’s Everything You Need to Know About Apple Watch Series 4

Apple Watch Series 4Unveiled at the launch of iPhone XS on September 12, the Apple Watch Series 4 is now available to order. For two years running, Apple has launched the new Apple Watch models alongside new iPhones. The Series 4 is an upgraded version of the Apple Watch with a substantially modified design and a range of new health and fitness features.

Apple lovers were treated with the launch of not one but two new products on September: the iPhone XS and the Apple Watch Series 4. Amidst much fanfare, the Apple Watch was launched for the first time about four years ago.

The first version of the Apple Watch tried to do too much with way too little, and it had a confusing software to boot. However, the worst thing about the watch was that no one knew what it was actually for since Apple had not specified this and there was no feature that stood out. To put simply, the initial version of the Apple Watch was a complete failure.

Fast forward four years and we’re seeing the Apple Watch finally fulfill the promise with which it was initially launched. We can say that the Series 4 has finally achieved what the original Apple Watch was launched for. With due respect to the iPhone XS, the Series 4 was the most exciting thing that Apple launched on September 12. People who have trial tested the Watch say it’s deserving of the hype.

As mentioned earlier, the Apple Watch is available to order, and it went on sale in retail shops on September 21. So, now you know when and from where you can buy the Apple Watch Series 4 but why should you buy the watch? Here is everything you need to know about the Apple Watch Series 4.

Design and Display

The design of the Series 4 is completely different from that of its predecessors. The watch comes in two sizes: 40 mm and 44 mm. Additionally, the display size has been increased by 30%. The screen has curved corners, which fit more closely to the shape of the face. The watch face is also redesigned, and it now has more detailed and graphic information. users can view boarding information, track scores from sports teams, see stocks and heart rate, and more.

The series 4 watch is slimmer than series 3 and the new digital crown with haptic feedback in the Series 4 allows for a more responsive experience when you flip through items on your watch. The watch is available in stainless steel or aluminum, with the all-ceramic edition quietly dropped. The aluminum models are available in three colors options: silver, gold, and space gray.  The color options in stainless steel are space black and a new gold. The Series 4’s back is made of sapphire crystal and black ceramic, which allows radio waves to go through the front and back. The purpose of this is to improve cell reception.

The speaker of the Apple Watch has also been completely redesigned in the Series 4 and it is now 50% louder. Additionally, the microphone is now on the opposite side of where it used to be, which is far away from the speaker. This is meant to reduce echo and increase the clarity of phone calls.

Specs and Battery

The Apple Watch Series 4 has a 64-bit dual-core processor that is designed to work two times faster than the previous Apple watch. The dynamic range of the accelerometer and gyroscope is increased by two times, which allows them to sample motion data eight times faster. However, nothing has changed in terms of battery life—the Watch series 4 has the same eighteen-hour, all-day battery life. Though there has been an increase in outdoor workout time to six hours, with full GPS tracking for long bike rides.

Health Features

As mentioned in the beginning, the Apple Watch Series 4 has a range of new health and fitness features. Perhaps, this is the reason Apple describes the watch as ‘an intelligent guardian for your health’. Following are the most noticeable health features in the Apple Watch Series 4.

Fall Detection

By monitoring the movement of your arms, the Series 4 works out when you’re about to fall. If you fall and there’s no further movement from you, the watch will assume that something has happened you and will use the SOS features to contact the emergency services and send your location to them.

Heart Rate Monitor

While previous models of the Apple Watch had the ability to detect and warn about a prolonged elevated heart rate, the Series 4 has sophisticated heart-monitoring abilities not witnessed before in the Apple watch. For example, the series 4 can spot low rates, which wasn’t possible with the previous versions of the watch. Additionally, the series 4 watch can keep track of irregular heartbeats to notify you of a potential atrial fibrillation.

However, the most noticeable change is the new ECG function. When you place a finger on the Digital Crown, the watch runs an ECH test for you, which is the first time an ECG device has been made available over the counter direct to consumers. However, a separate app which was not available at the launch is required to make the ECG function work. However, Apple says the app will be launched soon. The series 4 stores all the health-care data in the health app and this can be useful for people planning a visit to their doctor.
